Ashley was born and raised in Winnipeg where she grew up playing various sports including softball and volleyball. Through sport, Ashley developed a love of movement and team environments which led her to pursue her Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) from The University of Winnipeg. Ashley completed her honours thesis focusing on mental health in sport, something which she is passionate about advocating for. From there, Ashley knew she wanted to continue into the Master of Physical Therapy program at The University of Manitoba with the intention of working in pediatrics.
Throughout university, Ashley spent many years working with children of various ages in the community and was fortunate to spend time at Special Olympics as well. Through these experiences, she gained a true passion for working with children and their families. What drew Ashley into pediatrics was how rewarding the interactions can be, and how brave and resilient children truly are. Ashley was then fortunate to complete a pediatric clinical placement in the public sector where she learned how to mix her two passions of movement and working with children together! Ashley’s favourite part of working with children and their families is getting to know each one of them individually and values that everybody and every relationship is unique. She cannot wait to work with children and families in Winnipeg to make a positive impact on their lives and learn something new from each child she is lucky to meet.
Outside of the clinic, Ashley enjoys spending time with all the animals in her life, attending concerts, going to escape rooms, spending time with friends and family, painting, and staying active.
